Day 14 Incredible India!!
4 September 2009
Today, I was supposed to leave at 0730 hours, but Stan insisted to go to town at 7 am. And so, there was I left behind looking for the luggage while waiting for bro Hulk to come. He eventually arrived and I made my way to town for a quick morning shoot to meet up with San and Stan.
I saw a bunch of school children lining up to go to school in army trucks. Who says you need a proper school bus to ferry you to school?
The kids were so innocent and welcoming.
Finally when it is time to part, they bid me farewell.
The kids were initially cold, but once they opened up, they were most friendly.
Road was very bumpy but the view was magnifito.
The view was totally different than in Leh or Manali. it is much more greener.
Oh no!! Without notice, I was caught in a long traffic jam. I saw people praying at the mosque that filtered all the way to the roadside. I almost forgot it was a Friday.
Finally, I reached Dallake at 1500 hours. Weather was good. I was greeted by the boat house owner and had to take the shinkara (boat) to get across the boat house.
Accomodation was great, and I finalized my itinery in Kashmir for the coming days. At 1800 hours, the owner offered to take me to the mosque to break fast. The people were somewhat surprised to see someone like me in the mosque and I was treated like a ‘closed brother’ to them. I was offered a banana, date and a local kahsmiri drink for breakfast. Dinner was served at the boat house and I went back to ‘land’ again for my Ramadhan prayers before turning in at 11pm.
