Day 03 Incredible India!!

24 August 2009

I left the guest house at 7 am to make my intended visit to a nearby temple, MANU temple. Cutting across a local village, there is definitely local flavor life in this part of the town.

Along the way, I stumbled a group of workers carrying basket full’s of apples. Here is my chance, let’s tail them.  After a short 20min trek behind them,  I end up at the Apple Cottage farm, full of green apples sitting pretty on the trees.

Here are my new found friends,

Trekking back, I saw a group of kids waiting for a school session to start. Kids! Kids! Resistance is futile now. Come on kids, gather around,

and smile into the camera.

If that was not enough, why not a self portrait.

Too big a school bag for him? Nah!!

The class began with a prayer session,

with some chanting of the sutra.

Some were totally engrossed,

while some were distracted

and others felt sleepy.

Finally, I ended up at MANU temple. The little girl gave me a stare while I was loitering around the temple. Nothing great about this temple anyway.

I made my way back to the guest house for a short afternoon rest before heading out to New Manali again.  Along the way, I ended up at a provision shop for some coffee shop chat with a few locals. I paid a visit to Antrek Travel around 1700 hours  to settle the outstanding payment for the travel trip and also to make arrangement for our Keylong stay at Snow Land Hotel.

I had the opportunity to break fast with the local Muslim brothers from the Kashmir Gift Collection at New Manali together with a short prayer session.

I ended the night out with dinner, paper masala dhosai  at Satyam restaurant. This is possibly the best dhosai I had ever eaten.
